(I’m going to make this sticky for a week in order to let anyone who wants to enter the giveaway. See below for new posts.)
This is my 1500th published post on this site!
In honor of the milestone I’m having a giveaway. Specifically I’m giving away this quilt top made into a real live quilt.
I started this site on Jan. 9, 2005. I had been blogging for about a year on tblog. I started blogging because I was married to a guy who loved to talk. He talked so much about himself that I never got to talk. Eventually I was trained to never even try to talk since he was notorious for cutting me off mid-sentence without even realizing that I had been talking. I remember sitting on the bathroom floor miserable and telling myself over and over that it wasn’t that I was boring or that I had nothing important to say. So I started blogging as a way to prove it to myself.
What else was going on when I started here? Well my evil mother in law was 1.5 years into her 3 week stay in my dining room. Snowball and Spirit were still alive and well and ruling the roost.
In the 4.5 years since I’ve almost adopted, gotten divorced, met the SO, moved, and sewed lots of quilts. I’ve learned so much that I never thought possible when I just wanted to find a way to get someone to listen to me. I got a guided tour of LA (Hi, Olivia!). For reading everyone else’s blogs I’ve gotten quilt ideas, recipes, inspiration to work out, vicarious travel, information about religions, and friendships and much more.
So to thank everyone who has listened to me ramble on here’s the giveaway. Leave a comment and you’ll be entered in the drawing. Tell people about it on your blog and leave a link to the post and you get another entry.
Thanks everybody!
So glad to know your listen to now. I don’t know if I’m to late for the drawing but either way. Kudos on your 1500th post!
I think I’ve been reading since a couple of months after you broke your butt. Just went back in the archives, and, wow! — that was a long time ago 😉 Thanks for sharing laughs, viewpoints, frustrations and inspirations! Congrats on 1500 — keep ’em coming.
what a beautiful quilt! So happy you stopped by my blog so I can see it : )
Congrats on a posting milestone, looks like you have had quite the journey…I look forward to reading more!
Congrats on the 1500th! Blogging is such a great outlet, I love the sense of community on here. And the quilt is beautiful, I’d love to win it. I’m a bit ashamed to admit we don’t have a single quilt in the house. I’ve always been envious of the ones my mother has, such beautiful works of art that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
What a beautiful quilt! Whoever gets it is going to be very lucky.
I just have to tell you how much I love your blog. The stories about your new dog freckles has had me rolling on the floor because it reminds me so much of when I got my dog Lola last november. Don’t worry, the cats will stop hating you eventually…. 🙂
Wow! What a story. And an impressing blogging record as well. I’ve felt so blessed by the people and experiences I’ve had because I started blogging as well. (much more recently than you!)
And Wow! What a quilt! It’s beautiful.
That’s a beauty! I don’t need to win, I just wanted to let you know how glad I am the blog world (and the real world too) has you. You go ahead and talk as much as you want, we’re eagerly listening to every word. :o)
Hey!
I’ve only been reading your blog for a few months but I actually flicked through your archives. I found your blog because of quilting but I stay because I love your writing!
I love animals and I think somewhere in there I always wanted to be a vet! I just never did it. I love hearing about your day. Take care and please write at least 1500 more posts!

I can’t speak for everyone, but i know i’ve loved reading your blog. It’s been such a blessing to follow you on your journey and share your experiences.
I have so many blogs on my blogroll; but your blog is one of the three I made sure I checked daily and still do it check it more often than any others.
Thank you for letting us get to know you and I look forward to even more posts.

Oh I want an entry!! I am all about black/white with a bright color. My bed room is black and white with hot pink. Not many people could pull that off :P. I also would LOVE to have a quilt. Every time you post something about sewing it makes me want to learn…and then I realize how hard it is and give up. I found your blog years ago (over 2 because I was reading your blog long before I had my own) and have read every post since. I even recall when you wanted to breed prize. And how you had a boarder back when you had your own place. I even remember when another blogger interviewed you about eating local foods, which inspired me and now I only get produce from farmers markets in the summer (okay, not exactly a stand against factory farming, but I am trying).
Yay giveaway! Boo Insignificant Ex & Bad Mother!
