This will be a great event with mini-challenges (I may be hosting one) and a great way to find out about new authors and books.

This includes African American authors and other who may identify as being Black without being American. All genres count! YA, MG, Adult, Fiction, Nonfiction, etc.” from Becoming Books

Reading This Week
The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America by Thomas King
“The Inconvenient Indian is at once a “history†and the complete subversion of a history—in short, a critical and personal meditation that the remarkable Thomas King has conducted over the past 50 years about what it means to be “Indian†in North America. ” from Goodreads
The Waters Rising by Sheri S. Tepper
“Acclaimed author Sheri S. Tepper returns with a stunning novel in which a dreadful, awesome, killing power is resurrected from the past . . . and only a dying woman, a child, and a man who has come to help them can prevent humanity’s extinction.” from Goodreads
This is a sequel to A Plague of Angels.
Still listening to:
“As they approach adulthood, Cat Barahal and her cousin Bee think they understand the society they live in and their place within it. At a select academy they study new airship technologies and the dawning Industrial Revolution, but magical forces still rule. And the cousins are about to discover the full ruthlessness of this rule.” from Goodreads
What are you reading this week?
I’m hoping to get to Station Eleven soon, seen so many rave reviews. Recently had a UK holiday and a few days in Bath. We had a scrumptious cream tea at the Jane Austen Centre and bought lots of little Jane Austen treasures. Loved the Roman Baths too … have a fantastic time 🙂
We will definitely be having tea. We are uncouth Americans though so we will try not to embarrass ourselves. LOL
You have some great events coming up in February!
You’re going to Bath ? You’re so lucky ! And re-reading Jane Austen is no chore 😉 Have a great week !
The Inconvenient Indian looks great.
I keep saying I want to read Station Eleven, but I really must do something about it!!!
Love the idea of your Bath trip. (Have travel envy!)
Oooh, Bath!!! My favourite place in the world! When are you going? Used to live there – so if you need hints and tips of things to do and places to go, even places to eat, let me know …

We’re going to be there for 3 days in May.
Well, I have like a bazillion suggestions for you, if you’re interested 🙂 But in the meantime, here are my top 10 things to do and see and visit in Bath…
(apart from just wandering around the town looking at all the glorious architecture and soaking up the atmosphere, that is!)
1. Catch a game of rugby at the Rec (if you’re there over a weekend) – Bath are playing brilliantly this season, atmosphere will be electric, if you can get tickets it will be a great afternoon
2. Afternoon Tea at the Pump Rooms (you can reserve online) – pretend to be a Jane Austen character, sip tea and eat delicious cakes and sandwiches to live music!
3. The Roman Baths – naturally 😉 And there’s the new Thermae Spa in the town centre you can go in and enjoy the thermal waters if bathing’s your thing
4. Mr B’s bookshop – the best independent book store I know
5. Just a little way down from Mr B’s is a pub called the Raven – lovely beer (if you like beer), but also they do fantastic pie and mash (there’s a veggie pie called Heidi pie with goat’s cheese, sweet potato and spinach, it is out of this world yummy!)
6. There’s a veggie restaurant called Acorn Vegetarian Kitchen, it used to be called Demuths and was always fantastic but then was bought out by the chef, so I’m guessing it’s still pretty good.
7. The Assembly Rooms and the Museum of Costume (on the lower ground floor) – pretend to be a Jane Austen heroine all over again!
8. No. 1 Royal Crescent – a museum about how Georgians lived
9. If you’d be interested in seeing some quilts, the American Museum has a large collection
10. Check out what’s playing at the Theatre Royal, it attracts some fantastic productions and is a lovely old theatre
I so hope you have a wonderful stay in Bath, and if I can help with any info, please just let me know 🙂

Thanks for all the information! We are definitely going to have afternoon tea.
The veggie pie sounds amazing. We’ll check that out.
Oh how fantastic that you’re going to Bath! It’s mentioned so frequently in Austen and other books that it’s one of those places I’d love to go even though I know nothing about it. Enjoy your trip and your books! Have a great week!
Good Luck on your readathon!! It sounds like you had a great reading week! Here is my weekly recap!! http://bookbabble.weebly.com/blog/sunday-post1
What a fun way to prepare for a trip to Bath. There’s a Bath here in Maine as well, but it is not nearly as romantic!
