After last year’s bout with monster zucchini all summer you’d think I’d have learned a lesson. Apparently not. I just had to plant some this year. I sort of … missed them if you know what I mean. I couldn’t face the thought of not having zucchini at all or worse, having to buy them. I planted 2 zucchini plants and 2 yellow squash plants.
Then I got worried. I have 1 of each type of plant growing and thriving. The other one of each type died. I read somewhere that you need two plants to pollinate. I wasn’t sure if that was true. The big plants were flowering like crazy but I wasn’t sure if I was going to get any squash.
Yesterday I checked and I have little baby squash of both types! Note my excitement. I will try to remind myself of this in a month when I am snowed under by squash again. LOL.
I solemnly swear that I will check the plants every day. I will pick the veggies when they are a manageable size. I will not let them grow to 2 feet long even if they can.
