There are times in my job when I just want to bang my head against a wall. Earlier this week I saw a dog that I have seen previously for back problems. The last time I saw him was 2 years ago. He was back for the same problems as before. When I first looked at him this time he was standing slightly hunched up. I adjusted one point on his back and his back muscles relaxed. As I was doing this his owner was discussing whether or not his signs were back-related or imaginary. I adjusted another point and there was a huge “crack” that made the owner flinch. A ripple started at the top of the dog and went all the way down his spine. The dog looked at me with huge eyes and then gave a big whole body shake. He then started wagging his tail. I hadn’t noticed that he wasn’t wagging it until he started wagging a lot.
Me: (slightly awed since I’ve never seen that kind of reaction) – He’s wagging his tail now!
Owner: Yeah, I knew that there was never anything wrong with him.
I tend to over react and think my babies are dying.. It takes our sweet country-side vet to assure me (so far – knock on wood) that everything will be fine.
Can’t imagine being so out of touch with my pet.. =/
