A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy
Chicky scandalized her family by running away from her small town in Ireland with an American. They told her no good would come of it so she never told them when he left her a few months later. She stayed in America for 20 years, only returning when she had the opportunity to buy a big house in her hometown and turn it into an inn.
Each chapter in this book tells the story of a person involved in the establishment of the inn or of a guest in the first week. I love Maeve Binchy books and this one was no exception. I was sad to read that this was her last novel because she died last year. I’m going to have to go back and reread some favorites now when I need a fix.
Notorious Nineteen: A Stephanie Plum Novel by Janet Evanovich
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back. When her sometimes employer Ranger and a soon-to-be-married Army buddy are targeted by a person with inside knowledge of their unit, Stephanie is hired to be an undercover bridesmaid.
When I reserved this at the library I was number 273. It got to me fairly quickly because they have lots of copies and it is a fast read. I read it in a morning. It wasn’t my favorite of the series but it was cute.
The Forgotten by David Baldacci
John Puller is an Army CID investigator on R and R after a tough assignment. He receives a letter from his aunt in Florida asking him to come down and investigate something. By the time he gets there she is dead. Now he wants to find out what happened to his aunt and what did she see that he was supposed to investigate.
This book is an interesting look into human trafficking in the United States. (That’s not a spoiler. You find that out in the first chapter.) The plot hinges on several groups of people who have been tracking a smuggler from different angles coming together to bring him down.
Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
Kate won the right to be Queen of the Underworld. She will live there six months of the year and on the surface for the other six months. Now she is returning after her first summer off and she finds that the Underworld is under attack from a powerful enemy. The only person who can help is her new husband’s beloved first wife, Persephone.
This is the second book in a trilogy and I liked it anyway. Most second books don’t have a lot of plot. They are just getting you to the climax in book 3 but there was story and closure here.
It’s been so long since I read Aimee Carter’s first book that I hadn’t really thought about continuing the series, but maybe I should. 🙂 Thanks!
What a great list of books to read, all are authors I have on my TBR List. Hope you are enjoying your reading this week!
I think your assessment of Evonavich’s 19 pretty much sums up the last few books for me (although not 18, haven’t read that one yet.) I loved the one side story with the monkeys, but for my dad (who also reads the series) that was a step too far, lol.

I really want to read the Maeve Binchy book – I have a few of her other books on my shelf that I am hoping to read soon, too. And I’m slowly making my way through the Stephanie Plum books – I’m currently listening to book 12.
Have a great week!

This just reminds me I still have to read Goddess Interrupted. Thanks for the reminder! I have the book on my TBR pile, and I enjoyed The Goddess Test.
Take a look at what I’m reading this week.
Sooo, are you a Ranger or Morelli girl?
What are you reading @ The Brunette Librarian
Ranger – no contest in my mind.
I didn’t realise Maeve Binchy died last year. I had heard that she had been housebound for years due to ill health. It’s sad. I used to read her books all the time but haven’t in a few years. I do like the sound of this one. I have the 18th Stephanie Plum book to read. I finally picked it up last week. I keep saying that I am going to stop reading them as they haven’t been that great for a while but I can’t seem to say no. Have a great week.
Nice mix of reads. Enjoy them all.
Nice varity, enjoy the upcoming week.
Great bunch of books. Hope this week is just as productive.
I have Binchy on my ‘someday’ list too Kathy! Looks like I have some Amazon shopping to go do!
You read such a nice variety of books. I have never read anything by Binchy though she is on my “someday” list. Come see my Monday Report. Happy reading!
