I read Lobizona specifically because it was a fantasy book written by an Argentinian-American author and based on Argentinian folklore. I’m trying to read more books from South America. This book didn’t ever end up in Argentina though. At the end of the book, they are just going there. I’m not super invested in the story so I’m torn about reading the sequel. I was able to download it from the library though so I may continue just to see what happens and to actually say I read a book set in Argentina.
I did read Cazadora. I liked it even though I’m not generally a fan of the whole “teenagers save the world” plot. I feel like this one left a lot unfinished. There could be more books written in this series but it is described as a duology so I guess it is done.
This is a prequel novella for the series that starts with Eastside Hedge Witch. I think this is best read after reading at least that book if not the whole series. This novella doesn’t really do a lot of world building. It assumes that you know the world of the series. It is fun if you know the characters involved but may be confusing if you are coming in fresh to the story.
I found out about this from Jessica Rosenberg’s email newsletter. She’s like my fantasy ebook drug dealer at this point. She writes about her books, which are wonderful and you should read them, but then she talks about what she is reading or what books her author friends have just published. I always end up buying something. We have the same tastes and we totally should be best friends if we lived anywhere near each other.
These are all new to me. I like this idea to read from different places. I try to do it, but I’m more likely to read novels set in the East. The only South American I’ve read is Isabel Allende.
Happy reading this coming week.
I’ve not heard of any of these. I do like some fantasy but haven’t read any lately. Seems like I’m stuck in mysteries lately. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
I almost never read novellas associated with series, they rarely fit very well.
Wishing you a great reading week
