Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Fire the Sky by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear – This is part two of the story of de Soto’s invasion. He has worked his way north to present day Georgia. The story is from the view of the native resistance.
Highland Fling by Katie Fforde-Â I’m not sure how I missed this book of hers before now. Jenny is a virtual assistant sent to Scotland to assess the viability of a textile plant. She finds herself thinking up ways to save the firm in advance of the meeting with her boss, who she has never met, in one month.
The Book of Tomorrow by Cecilia Ahern-Â Tamara is a rich kid in Dublin who is used to having everything she wants. That all changes when her dad kills himself because he is going bankrupt. Tamara and her mother are forced to go live with her aunt and uncle in the country. She is bored until she finds a diary that has an entry in her handwriting that tells her what is going to happen tomorrow. Using the diary as a guide she starts to investigate the weird things that are going on around her.
This book is hard to define. There is a family mystery but that doesn’t really start up until halfway through the book. I didn’t like this book as much as some of the author’s other books.
The Ring Makes All the Difference by Glenn T. Stanton-Â I reviewed this one here.
Serenity Volume 2:Â Better Days and Other Stories by Joss Whedon, et al- This is a graphic novel based on the story of the TV show Firefly. The stories in this novel aren’t connected and it isn’t always clear where you are in time. Fans will like seeing other stories with these characters but they aren’t the best stories.
All Wound Up by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee – I’ve been reading her blog, Yarn Harlot, for years. She writes about knitting. I don’t knit but I like her stories because they are funny.
Last week was rare for me in that I finished a lot of review books. Come see what I finished.
I just finished reading The Book of Tomorrow.
Here is mine
Doesn’t sound like you’ve had much success with the books you’ve been reading lately. Glad All Wound Up is good. 🙂
