This was the first year that I did the Monday reading meme all year long so I have a list of everything I read. I was also doing the Where Are You Reading challenge.
I read a book set in each of the 50 states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
I read at least one book set in the following countries:
Canada
England
Ireland
Wales
Scotland
Greece
Kenya
Nepal
Egypt
Morocco
Burma
Italy
Indonesia
Australia
Mexico
South Korea
Afghanistan
Saudi Arabia
Russia
France
Switzerland
Japan
United Arab Emirates
India
Turkey
Botswana
Overall I think I read 230 books this year.
Next year I’m not going to do the state challenge. I don’t feel like chasing down some of the small states again. Instead I’m going to do the Around the World in 80 Books challenge on Goodreads. The goal, obviously, is to read books in at least 80 different countries. It started on October 1, 2011. Since then I’ve gotten 8 countries without even trying. Based on last year’s list I’m weak in South America. Hopefully, I’ll pick up some books that I might not have before to get unique countries.
The best books I read this year were Ready Player One and The Help.
I’m jealous of your book numbers – I used to be an avid reader, reading 2-3 books a week, but when I began keeping track of my books in 2010 – I’d only read 26 in 6 months.
In 2011, I read 12 books. This made me very sad, and I’m determined to get back up to at least 26 books this year, and will probably be checking your reading list to keep me motivated.
Well done on such a wide range!
I read your blog all the time… I had no idea you read so much! wowza 🙂
I read about 40 books this year for a total of 60+ if I include audio. Thank goodness for vacations (which increase my reading time).
Good luck with your new home, have a wonderful new years!
