Week 1: (Oct 31-Nov 4) – Your Year in Nonfiction: Take a look back at your year of nonfiction and reflect on the following questions – What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year? Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year? What nonfiction book have you recommended the most? What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November? (Katie @ Doing Dewey)
It’s the best day of the year! It is Halloween and the start of Nonfiction November.
I particularly love this week because it lets me see all the books I’ve been missing this year. I also get lots of suggestions about what to buy the husband for his birthday and Christmas.
Nonfiction I Read Since Last November
Like always for me it is politics, racism, and food with a little bit of show business thrown in.
It is hard to pick a favorite because they are so different. If I had to pick one to hand to people though I think it would be See No Stranger. This was a book that got me looking more into the author’s work. I’ll be talking about it more for a later prompt so stay tuned!
I have all the same celebrity memoirs on my TBR! Enjoy your NonFiction November. I am limping through with an unreliable computer but I cannot miss it – it really is the best reading month of the year.
My daughter is reading Deaf Utopia right now and loving it. I love the looks of a few books on your list. Thanks for the suggestions!
There are a lot of books on your list that I hadn’t heard of but which sound really good! I did also really enjoy She Said. A tough topic, but a great read.
That tomato book sounds really interesting!
It was really good.
wow, so many fascinating topics. I’m curious about the one on veganism.
Here is my list:

The one on veganism was best for people who are thinking about trying it for the first time. It goes over what it is like to try a vegan diet.
That’s a really impressive list of nonfiction! I’ll have to check some of them out.
What a great year of nonfiction! I am SO intrigued by American Cheese—but then I’m a total sucker for most types of food writing.
Check out our Foodies Read link up every month. You’ll find lots of books to read. A new link up starts on the first of every month.
Oh that’s perfect! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
I really enjoyed the Stanley Tucci book!
I really loved the Stanley Tucci book as well as How the Word is Passed. Thank you for sharing your list of books!
I love celebrity memoirs, I’ll have to add Kal Penn’s and Simu Liu’s to my TBR!
“10 Tomatoes that Changed the World” – what a great title! Looks interesting too.?
Yasssssssss my favorite time of year!!! I’m curious about that cheese book but would need to make sure I had many cheeses in the house before picking it up to read it..
It would interesting (and expensive) to order in the types of cheese he is talking about and try them after reading about them.
Congrats on a great year of nonfiction reading, thanks for the rec’s!
You read some great books this year! I’m interested in several you’ve listed – The Next Supper sounds very interesting!
I see several books here that I read (and loved!) this past year too. So exciting when Nonfiction November rolls around. 🙂 How the Word Is Passed is pretty high on my list right now so I’m glad to see you have it here. Thanks for sharing your list!
