I realized on Saturday that because I’ve been reading so much during my time off work that I’m out of books that I am super enthusiastic about. Don’t get me wrong, I have LOADS of books to read. But I don’t have anything that I’m so excited about that I don’t want anyone to talk to me while I immerse myself in the world of the book. I did just read The Spellshop and that absolutely had that vibe for me. I want more of that.

So I did a purge. I returned most of the ebooks I had to the library. They were things that I honestly wanted to read but they weren’t necessarily page turners. I need that for this next week. Then I went to my Goodreads TBR and started looking. Might as well kill two birds with one stone here. I kicked a lot of books off that list too. I was in a mood. Here are a few books that I ended up with for the next few days at least.

This was recommended on an author’s email newsletter. Jessica Rosenberg has been giving me good suggestions in her newsletter so I’m going to give it a try.

I got this one from Kindle Unlimited.

I did read this one and it was really good. It isn’t as fluffy and light as it appears. I’ve downloaded the next book in the series.

This is from the TBR list. I love Sarah Addison Allen but I haven’t read her for a long time. I like magical realism and that is absolutely the vibe I’m looking for. This was also on Kindle Unlimited.

A paranormal P.I. novel is on the other end of the spectrum but this has been on my TBR for a long time. I think I read a short story by this author and liked it. This is also blurbed by Jim Butcher, who I really love so I’m giving it a try. It is also from Kindle Unlimited.

I read this one and it was ok. The first book in the series doesn’t explain everything that’s going on in the world but I don’t think I’ll be continuing.

I found this when I did my Goodreads Choice post. I’m hit or miss on Korean fiction so we’ll see how I feel about this one. It is from the library.

I was reminded of Karen Brooks when I did my book pairing post for Nonfiction November. I wanted to read more of her books. This one needs to come in physical form from the library. That decreases the likelihood of me reading it but the story sounds interesting enough to give it a try. It should be here in a few days.
