I just read an interesting booked called Suburban Safari – A Year on the Lawn by Hannah Holmes.
The premise of the book is that instead of thinking of lawns as a sterile and unnatural part of an environment the author would observe her lawn in Maine for a year to see the types of plant and animal activity that takes place there. The lawn in question is not a fussed over, herbicide and insecticide soaked area so there is a lot to see in each season. During the course of the year she also travels to other parts of the country to see what affect suburbia is having on wildlife.
This book may open your eyes to nature around you.
