I ran across something in an ebook the other day that I had never seen before.
I was downloading Sariah Wilson’s Royal Design novella and noticed it said something about it being enhanced and having illustrations. I didn’t pay much attention.
Look at that cover. Now imagine that the cover you see when you open the book is the girl alone looking at you. Suddenly the guy walks in from the right and they turn to look at each other. What in the Holy Harry Potter was going on?
The whole book was like that. There were video illustrations on some of the pages with these models acting out what was going on in the story. I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not.
Pro – It was sort of a cool effect.
Con – It was a little distracting and the people pictured weren’t exactly what I was picturing in my mind.
Have you seen this in books before? Am I just out of the loop? Do you/would you like it?
So weird!! I’ve never heard of such a thing. It’s kind of a cool concept, but it would have to be done really really well to not be distracting.
Oh, WEIRD. I might have to spend the dollar just to try it and freak myself out (it is October, after all!).
That sounds creepy! I’m more bothered by Kindle books that omit the original illustrations, especially when the amazon description doesn’t even mention it.
