That most crafty of beasties, the wild Riley cat, has emerged from his shelter to survey his territory after the storm. He has spent the last few days watching the temporary bird feeder set up outside the window. He knows that if he can just get to it he’ll not have to worry about starvation.
He starts his journey in the relative safety of the shadow of the truck.
He shows his savvy by sticking close to the wall of the house where the snow is the lightest.
But alas, venturing into open territory is always treacherous. Only his lightning quick reflexes stopped him from being swallowed whole by a cat-eating snow drift. It got his whole left front leg but he was able to pull it back from the brink.
Our hero had retreated but vows to fight on another day. Preferably after the snow melts.
