The SO went to FL for the weekend to visit family and go to a wedding. He was not happy about this. Visiting his family seems to make him cranky based on his phone calls. He flew out Friday morning and is coming back this morning (Sunday). The really weird thing about all this is how odd it is to have him gone. The ex traveled a lot and that never bothered me. Most of the time I didn’t notice much. Probably that’s why he’s an ex. But with the SO we are almost nonfunctional when we are in different states. I’ve never had that happen before. It is nice but sort of annoying too. Friday night I watched some movies that he wouldn’t have wanted to see and then decided that I had had just about as much fun by myself as I could so he could come home anytime. It was 9:30 at night. Yep, I’m a party animal.
On Saturday I went for a time trial. I ran on the bike path with mileage markers. I was right. It was horrible. I ran a mile. I was also right about the fact that I run very slowly. I did it in 13:27. That’s about 4.5 miles an hour on a treadmill. Now I’m going back to trails where I can’t see a spot in the distance that I have to get to.
After that I came home and listened to the Tennessee/Western KY football game on internet radio. I am a UT alum and was a big fan when I was there but after I moved out of the area it was hard to follow football since they don’t show a lot of the games here. Last year they started to show more since the team was going to be so good and I started watching again. Instead the team totally self-destructed. The SO had never watched UT football before and was horrified. I remember him looking at me in the middle of one disaster of a game and saying, “You made me care and they suck!” I just read a book called On Rocky Top by Clay Travis about last season. The SO counseled against reading it. “You are just going to cry the whole way through it.” But I laughed instead because the author is a huge fan who got access to follow his team for a year and then they self-destructed. He was doing the crying for me. It got me ready for this year and I found every game on internet radio. The first quarter was like listening to a game from last year but they got it together after that.
While I was listening I started a quilt. I’ve been seeing a lot of black and white with a hint of lime green quilts on blogs recently. I decided to make my own version of that in a zig zag. I’m using these directions. I got all the pieces made during the game but have been slacking on getting it all together. I was to get moving because it is in the middle of the living room floor. Of course the first thing Riley did when he saw it was spin the middle of it. If I pick it up I’ll never get it laid out right again. I tried to take a picture of it but it is turning out with the green looking pea green and disgusting instead of lime green and cute. I’ll try it outside when I get it all together or else you’ll just have to believe me.
Now I’m off to pick up the SO from the airport.
